Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass Review

The jazz bass, also called J-Bass, was designed by Leo Fender, who is the founder of Fender Brand, now called “The Fender Musical Instruments Corporation“.

The first Jazz Bass was built during 1960 as an alternative to Fender Precision bass. Fender Precision Bass differed from the jazz bass, especially in electronic equipment, a slimmer neck and the distinctive asymmetrical body shape.

Jaco Pastorius was and is still the idol of many bassists, he united the styles of music R & B, rock, jazz and classical music. His incredible musical talent, unique sound and his fantastic bass playing makes him the legendary Jaco Pastorius. The Fender Jazz Bass is his choice of instrument.

In honor of this exceptional musician, Fender Custom Shop built an exact copy of his guitar and named it Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass. Aside from a perfect new fingerboard, this is a faithful re-creation, right down to the peeling paint and screw holes from a previous pickup.

This beautiful Jaco Pastorius Jass Bass has select alder body, special shaped maple neck, epoxy-coated fretless rosewood fingerboard, and replacement P Bass control knobs.
